The climb to Mt. Amuyao on July 16 will take the GORA Xplorers to an adventure like no other.

School kids get their bags

School-bound kids of the 14 elementary/primary schools in Sagada trooped to their respective schools to get their free sling bags filled with school supplies.

The sling bags were made of used tarpaulin in the spirit of the 3Rs — reduce, reuse, recycle.

Mountaineering Summit side trips

Optional activities before June 5 coinciding with the 4th MFPI Luzon Summit program include white water rafting at the Upper Chico River and Mountain Biking in Kiltepan/Marlboro/Danum-Madongo.

White water rafting would require an extra registration of P2,000/pax for a group of 7. Two groups per day will be accommodated. If interested, please inform us before May 31st.

You would have to bring your own mountain bike if you wish to try out this other option.

Mt. Ugo climb with VT

In planning stage yet.

After the successful climb to Mt. Pulag and visit to Bashoy, the Perspire to Inspire trek by Virtual Tourist returns. The repeat targets Mt. Ugo this time. SEGA shall be the support group for this activity which will be scheduled sometime after the MFPI Sagada Summit this June 2009.

School bags for all Sagada pupils

All pupils studying at the 14 elementary/primary schools of Sagada will be given ~~backpacks~~ sling bags the ~~day before classes start (May 31)~~ Saturday before classes start to encourage them to go to school and take care of the environment.

This project is spearheaded by Earth Day Network Philippines with the support of the Sagada DedEd District Office, the Sagada public elementary school teachers, the Sagada Solid Waste Association, Inc. and SEGA.

Mt. Pulag climb for a cause

Join the SEGA-supported climb to Mt. Pulag on April 5-6 2009 and experience the joy of inspiring the children of Bashoy, Kabayan as you perspire on your way to Benguet’s sacred mountain.

The climb is organized by VirtualTourist (VT Philippines) in partnership with the Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines, Inc. (MFPI). Aside from SEGA, the activity is also supported by Active Cordillera on Extreme Sports (ACES) and Dahong Palay Mountaineers (DPM).

300 families in barangay Bashoy will benefit from the cause oriented climb to the country’s second highest peak.

Everybody is encouraged to donate school books, school supplies, old clothes (for kids and adults), old toys, slippers and blankets.

World Drum with Grace Nono

Join the World Drum ceremony in Sagada on April 5, 2009, 4 PM before attending the Lang-ay Festival in Bontoc on April 7.

The World Drum Project is a ceremony for peace between tribes and cultures and between humanity and Mother Earth.

Grace Nono and the Sagada Cultural Group will participate in this musical, visual and emotional journey.

The activity is supported by SEGA, the Sagada Solid Waste Association, Inc., the Society for Shamanic Practitioners, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and Earth Day Network Philippines.

The ceremony is part of a series of activities scheduled to celebrate Earth Month. Earth Hour is on March 28 and Earth Day is on April 22. An Earth Jam with the World Drum follows on April 24 at Tomas Morato Ave. in Quezon City.
